About Acadia National Park
Local advocates of the rugged Maine Coast donated land early on to the Federal Government to create Acadia National Park. The space officially became a national park in 1916 and features a variety of tide pools, wetlands, boreal forests, and boasts the tallest mountain on the Eastern seaboard of the United States. Visitors to Acadia National Park can partake in numerous activities- hiking granite peaks, bike historic carriage roads, and enjoy both freshwater and saltwater activities in a spectacular natural setting.
